1000 meditations on GRATITUDE
The Portals Project was born on the New Moon of October 2014 when I gathered to participate in a fire ceremony along the coast. I had been reflecting intensely during the previous days on the blessings in my life; that is, all of the amazing people who surround me and all of the positive energy that has come into my life through the years because of them.
While waiting quietly for the others to arrive, the shaman handed me a slip of paper and told me to write down what I wanted to ask the Universe for. I was stunned momentarily, as if I had been punched playfully in the stomach. An embarrassing clarity washed over me as I realized that I had spent a lifetime asking for things; a better job, more money, to fall in love, to be happy. At that moment what I wanted more than I had ever wanted anything before was, for just once in my life, to by thankful for what I already had without asking for anything more.
I wrote the words 'Thank you' by the light of the fire, and when it came time, I placed the folded paper into the flames. I can only describe what I experienced next as a ‘download’. I knew instantaneously every detail of what and how I would go about expressing that gratitude. The Portals Project is my way of passing back out into the universe the sparks love which have been given so freely to me in my life, with nothing asked in return.
Each piece is a reincarnation of the first painting I ever sold professionally and is a doorway into a happy place.
I offer this to you. It is yours to burn, to gift, to set afloat on the ocean, tie to a balloon, to frame, carry in your pocket,
paint over, or to release in any way that feels right to you. Whatever it is you do with it, I offer this doorway to you and
hope that you consider stepping through.
Love and Light,
Jason Soltero
